Mathias Lessort is close to signing with Partizan Belgrade, according to Mozzart Sport. The French center had previously played for Partizan’s archrival Crvena Zvezda in 2017-2018.
Lessort became a free agent late in November after the completion of the two-month contract he had signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv. In six EuroLeague games with the Israeli side, he averaged 7.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in 11:36 minutes.
If the deal is completed and Lessort joins Partizan, he will return to EuroCup where he had a standout 2020-21 run with AS Monaco. The 26-year-old big man averaged 12.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in EuroCup to help the team win the title and get a ticket to participate in EuroLeague for the first time in the history of the club.
Lessort can aim to make a personal repeat since Partizan is considered one of the biggest EuroCup contenders this season.
