Gran Canaria had a strong offensive game to defeat Virtus Bologna 100 – 80 and rise above them in the standings of Group B in EuroCup.
Five players of Gran Canaria scored in double figures. Dylan Ennis delivered 17 points, AJ Slaughter produced 16 points along with nine assists, Chris Kramer and Jon Shurna had 14 points apiece while Miquel Salvo added 10 points. Their team had a powerful 29 – 15 fourth period to turn what was a close game for 30 minutes to a rout.
Kyle Weems (17 points), Marco Belinelli (16 points) and Milos Teodosic (15 points, 10 assists) stood out from Virtus. The Bologna side led 62 – 65 near the end of the third period until a 9-0 run by Gran Canaria put them behind for good. They didn’t manage to match their hosts’ scoring force in the last quarter.
