Errick McCollum was named 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season Round 10 MVP, Euroleague Basketball announced Thursday.
McCollum, 33, got the nod for the third time in the 2021-22 season after becoming MVP of both Round 6 and Round 8. His career tally amounts to seven EuroCup MVP of the Round awards alongside the 2016 season MVP distinction. In addition, he was crowned champion in 2016 and top scorer in 2014.
Per the press release: “An outstanding individual performance in a collective winning effort helped Errick McCollum of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar to earn MVP honors for Round 10 of the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season. McCollum led Lokomotiv to a 76-86 road victory against MoraBanc Andorra with 30 points. He made 5 of 8 two-pointers, 4 of 5 three-pointers and 8 of 9 free throws plus 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block and 5 fouls drawn for a PIR of 36, the highest of any player in Round 10. This is the sixth time in his career and third time this season that McCollum has been the MVP of the Round. He previously took the award in Rounds 6 and 8 this season. Mathias Lessort of Partizan NIS Belgrade posted a PIR of 33 in his team’s 102-77 home victory against Hamburg Towers. Lessort had 22 points on 9-of-12 two-point shooting and 4-of-5 on free throws. He added 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 fouls drawn in less than 22 minutes. Will Cummings of Boulogne Metropolitans 92 led the French powerhouse to a 99-82 home victory over Turk Telekom Ankara with 26 points on 6-of-9 two-point shooting, 3-of-5 from downtown and 5-of-5 from the foul line for a PIR of 32, which was third-best in Round 10. Rounding out the week’s top performers were Alan Williams of Lokomotiv, with a PIR of 29, and Zach LeDay of Partizan NIS Belgarde, who amassed a PIR of 28.
Individual highs: Ferran Bassas of Joventut Badalona, 9 assists
McCollum was also this round’s top scorer with 30 points against Andorra. He leads the scoring charts this season with 23.5 points per game. His teammate Williams led all rebounders by pulling down 14 in Andorra. Jordan Caroline of Dolomiti Energia Trento is the competition’s best rebounder at 7.9 per night. Ferran Bassas dished 9 assists in Joventut Badalona’s home victory against Dolomiti Energia Trento. Milos Teodosic of Virtus Segafredo Bologna ranks first overall at 8.1 assists per game. Lessort had 5 steals against Hamburg Towers to lead the weekly standings. Derek Needham of Frutti Extra Bursaspor is the regular season steal leader with 2.2 per night. Khalifa Diop of Gran Canaria had 3 blocks against Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, more than anyone else in Round 10. Octavius Ellis of Turk Telekom ranks first in blocks with 1.9 per night. Williams (17 points, 14 rebounds) and Cristiano Felicio of ratiopharm Ulm (17 points, 10 rebounds) were the only players to register double-doubles in Round 10.”
