Joventut Badalona beat Lietkabelis 65 – 50 at home to bounce back to wins in EuroCup and remain the undisputed leader in Group A. The Spanish side held its opponents at just 18 points in the second half to ultimately get a comfortable win.
Lietkabelis, on the other hand, was forced to a hard landing with an offensive season-low after a triumphant win over Partizan Belgrade last week.
Badalona led from start to finish and completely imposed its rhythm in the third period. They used an 11-0 run to go up 51 – 34 and led by 19 at the end of the quarter.
Lietkabelis reduced that margin to 11 points but Badalona pushed back the visiting squad to keep a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game.
Ante Tomic scored 14 points and Brandon Paul dropped 12 points for Badalona. Only Djordje Gagic (12 points) scored in double figures for Lietkabelis.
In Germany, AJ Slaughter made the winning jumper with 21 seconds to play to hand Gran Canaria a 94 – 93 away victory over Ratiopharm Ulm. The American guard finished with 15 points while Dylan Ennis scored a team-high 18 points for the Las Palmas team.
18-year-old Fedor Zugic had a career-high 22 points for Ulm.
Bursaspor kickstarted the EuroCup action this week by taking down JL Bourg en Bresse 96 – 89. Andrew Andrews (22 points, six assists) and John Holland (20 points, six rebounds) got things rolling for Bursaspor’s offense while Pierre Pelos (19 points) stood out from Bourg.
