Ante Tomic has extended his contract with Joventut, the team announced Friday.

Tomic, 35, penned a two-year contract extension. Combined with an option on his previous contract, he committed until the end of the 2024-25 season. The experienced Croatian center was on the verge of making a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague comeback, as reported by Eurohoops in early June.

The spectacular 2021-22 campaign was the reason behind the interest shown by teams in Europe’s premier club continental competition. Loyal to Joventut, he will add a third campaign in the 7DAYS EuroCup to his long resume. In 2021-22, he generated 10.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per contest as the team based in Badalona reached the Eightfinals and was knocked out by ratiopharm Ulm.

Averaging 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game over 41 appearances helped his side extend the domestic run all the way to the Semifinals of the Playoffs. Fourth place in the Regular Season of Spain’s Liga Endesa earned the home-court advantage against Lenovo Tenerife and led to the 2-1 win in the best-of-three series, but FC Barcelona followed delivering the knockout blow in four games.

Elsewhere in the EuroCup, Promitheas penned Vassilis Mouratos to a one-year contract. The Greek guard is coming off three seasons as a leading member of Lavrio Megabolt and appeared in eight games of the 2021-22 Basketball Champions League season averaging 10.6 points per contest.

In addition, newcomer London Lions named Ryan Schmidt as the new head coach. “It’s a great honor to be named head coach of the London Lions,” he said, “I want to thank the 777 ownership and the entire Lions organization for the opportunity to help bring their vision forward.”
