Umana Reyer Venezia bolstered its backcourt with the signing of point guard Jayson Granger to a one-year deal, as announced Monday.
Granger, 32, recently parted ways with Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, where he averaged 7.3 points and 3.9 assists in 30 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, helping his team reach the Spanish League semifinals in his second stint. Granger won the Spanish League championship with Baskonia in 2020, during his first run with the club.
“I am excited to play in Venice. I only had excellent feedback on the organization of the club. My teammate Esteban Batista described the reality of the club and the City to me and I am happy to do another step forward in my career. I am very motivated to help the team reach new goals,” said Granger.
The Uruguayan-born guard also owns an Italian passport, and this will be his first campaign in Italy after playing for Estudiantes, Unicaja Malaga in Spain, Anadolu Efes in Turkey and ALBA Berlin in Germany.
