Back in 1995, Michael Young was the top scorer of Limoges on the way to winning the EuroLeague title. Almost 30 years later his son, Joe Young will play for the first time in Europe after signing with Promitheas Patras for next season.
A gifted scorer like his father, the 30-years old guard finally moves to Europe after already having a solid career mainly in the Chinese CBA, averaging 38.8 ppg in the 2019-20 season and scoring a personal best of 74 points in the CBA bubble in the game against the Shandong Heroes.
He was the 43rd pick of the 2015 draft, having a contract with Indiana between 2015 and 2018 but playing mainly in the G-League.
With Promitheas he will have the chance to also compete in the EuroCup and he is already a candidate for the top scorer title of the competition.
Per his agent – and former EuroLeague champion with Barcelona – Pete Mickael, Young had also an offer from Lokomotiv Kuban to play in the VTB, but he preferred to showcase his abilities on a continental competition with Promitheas.
