Another new player for Veolia Hamburg Towers as the German club gears up for the 2022-23 edition of the 7DAYS EuroCup.
Samar, 21, joined the Hamburg Towers on loan from the fellow German side and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague participant Alba Berlin. He recently penned a four-year contract with the team located in the capital city of Germany.
“I followed some of the international games of the previous season. Now, I am really looking forward to competing with Hamburg in both the BBL and EuroCup,” he said, per the press release of the Hamburg Towers, with some help from Google Translate, “As a playmaker, I view my strengths in pick and roll and being able to read the game. My top priority is to make my teammates better. I want to improve in all areas of my game. I will work hard and hope I can progress in my development at Hamburg.”
He is currently preparing alongside Luka Doncic and fellow Slovenia international players in the training camp ahead of the 2022 EuroBasket and preceding 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. The Real Madrid youth product fit in as the seventh new addition to the squad of the Towers following Yoeli Childs, Kendale McCullum, Christoph Philipps, Len Scoormann, Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann, and James Woodard.
Elsewhere in EuroCup, rookie small forward coming out of North Carolina State, Jericole Hellems inked a one-year contract to join Promitheas. At the team based in Patras, he will compete alongside Thanasis Bazinas, Anthony Cowan Jr., Tunde Fasasi, D.J. Funderburk, Nikos Gkikas, Dimitris Kaklamanakis, Arnoldas Kulboka, Vassilis Mouratos, Nikos Plotas, Trevis Simpson, Giorgos Tanoulis, Michalis Tsairelis, and Joe Young.
