After signing a short-term deal, Jaylen Hoard was confirmed for the 2022-23 season by Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv.
Hoard, 23, is now under contract for the next season, Hapoel Tel Aviv announced Thursday.
“In the short time with us, Jaylen has proven that he is a quality and talented player,” noted head coach Danny Franco, “We are satisfied with the ability he has shown in friendly games during the preseason and I am happy we will stay with us for the challenges with face in the EuroCup and domestic league.”
The French small forward spent the last six years in the USA, from high school to the 2018-19 NCAA season at Wake Forest and the NBA. He logged 42 appearances in the NBA between the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder over the last three seasons. The Blazers, down several regulars on the injury list late in the 2021-22 Regular Season, prompted him in generating a productive stretch of four games with 22.0 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest.
The most recent new teammate was Adam Ariel penning a one-year contract. Lotam Amsalem, Gil Beni, J’Covan Brown, Tomer Ginat, Chris Horton, Xavier Munford, Raz Adam, Bar Timor, JP Tokoto, Travis Warech, James Young, and Idan Zalmanson are also on the 2022-23 squad along with 17-year-old prospect Ilay Dolinski, who signed a seven-year contract in late August.
In 2022-23, the team based in Tel Aviv will play in the 7DAYS EuroCup and Israel’s Winner League.
