Both Joventut Badalona and Gran Canaria registered their second straight win in EuroCup to improve to 3-1 in the matches that closed Round 4 of the regular season.
Gran Canaria’s offense worked well on the road against Paris Basketball and the Las Palmas side escaped with a 89 – 81 victory. AJ Slaughter was particularly effective with 24 points on 6-11 triples while John Shurna (14 points, seven rebounds) and Damien Inglis (12 points, five rebounds) provided a key helping hand.
Kyle Allman put on a clinic with 30 points and eight assists for Paris Basketball while Axel Toupane had 18 points. Their team though was severely outrebounded 4-14 on the offensive glass and Gran Canaria found 14 points out of these opportunities.
Meanwhile in Badalona, local Joventut survived a Prometey comeback attempted from down 22 to win 82 – 77. The Ukrainian team was trailing 65 – 43 with three minutes to play in the third period but cut that margin to three, 75 – 72 with 1:41 remaining following a 0-13 run.
Pep Busquets drained a big triple for Joventut and after Caleb Agada hit a 3-pointer for the 79 – 77, Pau Ribas’ free throws kept the hosts safe.
Henry Ellenson (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Joel Parra (11 points, eight rebounds) were Joventut’s top contributors. Agada led Prometey with 18 points.
Ratiopharm Ulm bounced back in style after consecutive losses to Lietkabelis and Brescia by defeating 2022 runner-up Bursaspor 90 – 86 in Turkey. Yagodos Santos provided the winning side with 17 points plus five rebounds and Tomas Klepeisz posted 15 points plus six assists.
Onuralp Bitim scored 19 for Bursaspor.
Jaylen Hoard (22 points, nine rebounds) and Hapoel Tel Aviv proved to be too much for Trento. In Lithuania, Jamel Morris (24 points) led Lietkabelis past Cluj.
