After making his way to four games of the 2022-23 edition of the Basketball Champions League, Kasey Shepherd inked a deal with the reigning champions of Romania’s Liga Nationala U-BT Cluj-Napoca.
Shepherd, 28, signed a contract with the team based in the fourth-most populous city in Romania, as announced Wednesday.
Starting the 2022-23 season at Bahcesehir Koleji, he recorded 5.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in the Champions League. He also averaged 8.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per BSL contest for the team coached by Erhan Ernak. But was sidelined for the last couple of weeks.
The brilliant display in the 2020-21 season as a member of Nizhny Novgorod led him to be named on the BCL First Team Star Lineup alongside C.J. Harris, Bonzie Colson, Raymar Morgan, and Giorgi Shermadini.
Carrying the experience of a total of 36 games played in the competition stretched from this season’s spell at the Istanbul outfit to the previous stints at Tofas Bursa, Nizhny Novgorod, and BC Kyiv Basket, the Louisiana-Lafayette product is now set to debut in yet another European club continental competition, the 7DAYS EuroCup.
Besides Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, earlier stops range from Montenegro and Georgia to Hungary. Romania will be the next destination of his professional career.
Switching to EuroCup, he meets his new side at 3-6, one win outside the Playoffs zone of Group A. At the domestic level, the team coached by Mihai Silvasan leads the league behind a 9-1 start.
