Badalona rising, Lietkabelis advances, Cedevita eliminated

Lietkabelis Panevezys had a fantastic fourth period to beat Cedevita Olimpija 94 – 87 on the road and punch a ticket to the EuroCup Top 16. Cedevita, on the other hand, was mathematically eliminated.

Gediminas Orelik led Lietkabelis overall with 22 points while Jamel Morris had 19 points, nine of them in the fourth quarter where the Lithuanian side outplayed Cedevita 20 – 29 to get the win. Kristian Kulamae produced 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for the winning side.

Yogi Ferrell scored 22 points on 5-8 3-pointers to pace Cedevita. Alen Omic delivered 15 points plus six rebounds, Zoran Dragic dropped 15 points of his own and Josh Adams had 13 points. Cedevita needed a win by six points or more to keep its chance to qualify and led 72 – 69 early in the fourth quarter. Lietkabelis responded with a 0 – 9 run and retained a lead.

Ante Tomic had 22 points plus eight rebounds and Kyle Guy scored 21 as Joventut Badalona defeated JL Bourg en Bresse 86 – 65 on the road to capture its fifth straight win and remain in pursuit of first-seeded Prometey.

James Palmer Jr. led Bourg with 17 points plus six rebounds. The French side was quite ineffective on offense and couldn’t match Badalona’s prowess to suffer its fourth consecutive loss.
