With the conclusion of the EuroCup campaign, London Lions announced that they parted ways with the experienced Greek center Kosta Koufos.
The 34-year-old signed with the Lions last summer and recorded a 20-10 score across all competitions, winning the 2023 BBL Cup title.
“We would like to thank Kosta for his contributions to the Club, both on and off the court. Aside from being a dominant interior presence, Kosta was a mentor and locker room connector. He came in and represented the Club and the BBL, and the City of London to the highest standard. He left a huge impression on the basketball footprint here, and we thank him for his impact… We wish him and his family all the best,” London Lions’ General Manager Brett Burman said.
During the regular season, Koufos led the British Basketball League in rebounds (9,1 RPG), averaging 12,1 points and 1,1 blocks (6th best in the league).
In the 7Days EuroCup, he averaged 11,8 points per game, 8,1 rebounds (5th best in the EuroCup), 1,1 blocks (9th best), and 1,5 steals.
