Beating Prometey in the 7DAYS EuroCup semifinal, Turk Telekom Ankara advanced to the final against Gran Canaria, scheduled on May 3, where the Turkish team could lift the European trophy for the first time in club’s history and book a ticket in next year’s EuroLeague. The former Zeljko Obradovic assistant at Fenerbahce guided his hometown club to a 16-5 record overall in this year’s competition.

Following this historic accomplishment, Erdem Can has been named Coach of the Year in the 2022-23 7DAYS EuroCup by his International colleagues. The Turkish head coach is the second person to receive an Award for this EuroCup season, following the Rising Star Aleksander Balcerowski.

Can is the second Turkish coach to be named the EuroCup Coach of the Year, following the first-ever recipient of the award Oktay Mahmuti with Benetton Treviso in 2009. He’s also the second straight Turkish team’s head coach to receive this Award, as Frutti Extra Bursaspor’s Dusan Alimpijevic was named the 2021-22 EuroCup Coach of the Year.

The All-EuroCup Teams and the 2022-23 MVP – for whom coaches, team captains, fans, and media all vote – will be announced before the EuroCup Final.
