Coming back to the 7DAYS EuroCup, Besiktas is now making makes to establish itself since the beginning as an important club in the European competition. The latest arrival is Jonah Mathews, who comes from an exciting season on the offensive end with ASVEL, winning the 2023 Leaders Cup.
In his first-ever EuroLeague season, the 25-year-old forward put up 10.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 51.3% from two and 85.5% at the free throw line. Before joining the French side, the USC Trojans product played for Köping Stars and Wloclawek.
He’s the second addition for the black-and-white Turkish team in back-to-back fashion following the arrival of Berkan Durmaz, who last played for Pinar Karsiyaka in the Basketball Champions League, averaging 3.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. This move was anticipated by Eurohoops’ Bugra Uzar.
Jordan Taylor extends with the Lions, Nikos Persidis moves to Aris
After moving to London to play in the 7DAYS EuroCup, Jordan Taylor has officially extended his contract with the British side for one more season.
One of the two hosts of “The Role Player’s Podcast” with Anthony Goods put up exciting numbers with the Lions after moving out of UBT Cluj-Napoca. In 11 games alongside Sam Dekker, he had 10.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
Losing in the Eightfinals against Joventut Bdaalona, the experienced point guard was the last to surrender with 14 points. He previously played, among other teams, for Galatasaray and ALBA Berlin as well.
The 7DAYS EuroCup saw other recent moves, as Andrea Mezzanotte opted out of his contract with Dolomiti Energia Trentino. Moreover, Buducnost added the 19-year-old Andrija Grbovic, who had 6.0 points and 3.4 rebounds with Mega in the 2022-23 ABA League, and Aris brought in Latvian guard Roberts Blumbergs.
