Club Joventut Badalona and Deshaun Thomas have reached an agreement for one season plus another optional one, and the American player will defend the colors of La Penya. Joventut adds to the squad a forward with extensive experience in the Euroleague where throughout his career he has played 219 games scoring 9.3 points per game.
Deshaun Thomas (29/08/1991, Fort Wayne, United States) is a 31-year-old, 2’01m forward with a long career in European basketball. Thomas landed in Europe in France (Nanterre), before making the jump to Barça, where he played for one season. With experience in the ACB, Thomas’ career is notable for having played for some of the best teams on the continent such as Anadolu Efes, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos (where he signed his best season in 2019 with 13 ‘8 points per game), Bayern Munich, and recently, at Olimpia Milano.
He is a left-handed player, very strong physically and with ease to score points. Thomas has a talent for back-to-the-basket points, has a very good mid-range shot, and shoots with good three-point percentages (37% throughout his Euroleague career). In addition, he also helps a lot with the rebound and is a player with a very competitive nature.
The new green-and-black power forward was trained in the United States at Ohio State. There he played 3 seasons in college basketball, shining especially in his last year with 19’8 points and 5’9 rebounds. In addition, Thomas was named the 2010 Indiana Mr. Basketball, a prestigious honor for the best high school player in Indiana.
