Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse completed its roster for the 2023-24 season with power forward Maksim Salash of Belarus.
Salash (2.06 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Nizhny Novgorod, where he averaged 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in the VTB League last season. Prior to last season, Salash spent a season and a half with San Pablo Burgos in Spain, the team he helped win the Basketball Champions League title in 2021.
A native of Belarus, Salash started his career with Tsmoki Minsk before joining Cajasol Sevilla of Spain. He also played in second-division Spanish teams Huesca and Ourense before moving to Kutno in Poland. Salash had two more stints with Tsmoki, with a year in a jersey of Kalev/Cramo in Estonia. He is now set to make his BKT EuroCup debut for Bourg, which announced Slash is the team’s final signing of the summer.
Another Brazilian in Ulm as Georginho signs
After serving as the first landing spot in Europe for a pair of Brazilian stars last season, ratiopharm Ulm has gone back to the South American country again to sign guard Georginho, whose full name is George Lucas Alves de Paula.
Georginho (1.97 meters, 27 years old) spent the past two seasons with Franca Basquetebol Clube, which he led to the Basketball Champions League Americas crown last season. He was named to the All-BCL Americas First Team after averaging 14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in the competition.
He began his professional career with Pinheiros and has also played for Paulistano and Sao Paulo FC in his native Brazil as well as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League in the United States. Ulm will be his first stop in Europe, much like his Brazil national teammates Yago das Santos and Bruno Caboclo last season, Cristiano Felicio before them.
Jaylen Hoard event player to re-sign with Hapoel
Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv announced on Monday morning that forward Jaylen Hoard has signed a contract that will keep the sides together for two more seasons.
Hoard (2.04 meters, 24 years old) comes off a strong debut season in the EuroCup, during which he was twice named MVP of the round. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17:34 minutes in helping Hapoel reach the quarterfinals. He was second in the EuroCup in PIR on a per-minute basis with 30.1 prorated over 40 minutes. Hoard was sixth in the competition in two-point accuracy (71.7%), too.
A native of France, Hoard spent one-year playing college basketball in the United States for Wake Forest University. He then played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA and for the Texas Legends and Oklahoma City Blue in the G League. Hoard is the seventh player to re-sign with Hapoel from last season’s squad.
