While all eyes are on the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup, Hapoel Tel Aviv announced another addition to competing in next year’s BKT EuroCup, incorporating the former Surne Bilbao Basket center Jeff Withey, who joins other arrivals like Braian Angola, Kyle Alexander, and John Holland.
In last year’s Basketball Champions League, the 33-year-old center had 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. In the ACB, instead, he put up 9.0 points and 6.3 boards per game.
Selected with the No.39 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers after coming out of college with the Kansas Jayhawks, he wore the jerseys of the New Orleans Pelicans, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks before making the jump to Europe.
Moving overseas, he joined Tofas Bursa in 2018, playing later on for Lavrio, Ironi Nes Ziona, Goyang Orions, and finally, from 2021 to 2023, representing Bilbao.
