JL Bourg en Bresse became the second team to mathematically secure a spot in the 2024 EuroCup playoffs after fellow French side Paris Basketball.
Bourg advanced by defeating Gran Canaria 92 – 84 in overtime and thus taking over the first spot in Group A at 11-2. Despite blowing a 15-point halftime lead, the French side was superior in the extra period to hand the defending champions their third straight loss after a 10-0 start.
Isiaha Mike (22 points, eight rebounds), Bryce Brown (17 points) and Bodian Massa (16 points, five rebounds) scored in double figures from Bourg. AJ Slaughter pacedd Gran Canaria with 23 points plus six rebounds.
Paris was taking no prisoners in the battle between one of the top teams in the competition against London Lions and won 94 – 77 to improve to a league-best 12-1.
Nadir Hifi led the charge for Paris with 26 points while TJ Shorts and Collin Malcolm scored 13 apiece. Matthew Morgan delivered 18 points for the Lions, now 9 – 4.
In Ulm, Tyrone Wallace went off with 31 points on 7-9 triples to push Turk Telekom past Ratiopharm 85 – 79 for a major victory in the Turkish team’s efforts to make the playoffs.
Trevion Williams stood out from Ulm with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
