As Eurohoops reported, Marko Simonovic left Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet and moved to Besiktas Emlakjet on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
Simonović will join Dusan Alimpijevic’s team and continue playing in the BKT EuroCup and Turkish BSL, after competing in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and ABA League with Serbian champions.
“KK Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet informs the public that our club’s first-team player, Marko Simonovic, will spend the remainder of the 2023-2024 season on loan to the Beşiktaş team.
Marko signed a contract with the Red and Whites last summer and came to Belgrade from the Chicago Bulls.
The club wishes Marko a lot of success, victories, and good health in his new club, where he will spend the rest of the season,” per the official announcement of the Belgrade club.
Simonovic started his career in Mens Sana Siena in Italy, then played for Petrol Olimpija and Mega Basket, before Chicago Bulls selected him as the 44th overall pick at the 2020 NBA draft. He stayed in Mega for one more season, dominating the ABA League alongside Filip Petrusev, before making a move to the NBA.
In two years, he played only 16 regular season games for the Bulls and spent most of the time in the G League, and Zvezda hired him last summer, giving him a chance to debut in the EuroLeague.
Except for scoring 14 points against ASVEL, he averaged a total of 2.8 points during his 11 performances in the top continental competition, while averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in the Adriatic League.
