Surfacing as the first player of Besiktas Emlakjet to earn MVP honors in the 2023-24 edition of the BKT EuroCup, Angel Delgado was brilliant in the Edel-Optics.De Arena on Wednesday.
Delgado, 29, was named MVP of Round 15, Euroleague Basketball announced on Thursday.
The Dominican forward posted a 17-point, 17-rebound double-double leading his side to the away overtime win versus Veolia Towers Hamburg.
Per the press release: “A monster performance in a playoff-clinching overtime victory has seen Angel Delgado of Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul earn MVP of the Round honors in Round 15 of the 2023-24 BKT EuroCup Regular Season.
Delgado had a round-high 36 PIR as he led Besiktas to an 83-94 overtime victory on the road at Veolia Towers Hamburg, which secured his team’s spot in the postseason. He finished with 17 points on 5-of-7 two-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws. Delgado added a club-record 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 7 fouls drawn for a PIR of 36, the highest in Round 15. This is the first time he has secured the MVP of the Round award in his 15-game EuroCup career.
Kamar Baldwin of Dolomiti Energia Trento and Justin Cobbs of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana each posted a PIR of 34 in Round 15. Baldwin led Trento to an 85-79 home win against Slask Wroclaw with 26 points on 8-of-10 two-pointers, 2 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 block and 6 fouls drawn. Cobbs had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 fouls drawn in his team’s 93-104 losing effort against Umana Reyer Venice. T.J. Shorts of Paris Basketball, Rayjon Tucker of Reyer and Will Christmas of Hamburg, each with a PIR of 29, complete the top individual performances in Round 15.”

A putback dunk by Roberto Gallinat lifted Aris Midea over Buducnost VOLI on Wednesday. The effort also ranked first in the weekly installment of the Top 10 Plays.
