Cedevita Olimpija had a challenging season in the BKT EuroCup, securing just one win in 18 regular-season games and parting ways with coach Simone Pianigiani midway through.
Zoran Martic is currently leading the team, but according to Meridian Sport, the Slovenian champions are keen on bringing Zvezdan Mitrovic on board.
Mitrovic began the season as the head coach of Galatasaray Ekmas but left Istanbul at the end of January and is now available for a new coaching position.
After working with Buducnost in the 2001/02 season, the Montenegrin coach did not work in the Adriatic region. He coached Khimik, Krivbas, Azovmash, and Budivelnyk in Ukraine. Later, he led ASVEL and Monaco in France before joining Galatasaray last year.
Mitrovic was named EuroCup Coach of the Year in 2021 when he won the title with Monaco. He also won the French League in 2019, three French League Cups, and became the Ukrainian champion in 2009. Now, he could potentially find his way to Slovenia.
