Carles Duran is no longer the head coach of Joventut Badalona.

The team based in Catalonia reached an agreement with Duran on the early termination of their contract, as announced on Monday.

Duran, 48, has been in charge of Badalona since 2018. Over six seasons, he guided the storied club to three berths in the ACB Playoffs and through five continental campaigns in BKT / 7DAYS EuroCup, including falling to Paris in the Quarterfinals of the 2023-24 season. The losing effort on March 14 in the capital of France highlights an ongoing six-game losing streak, including five consecutive losses in Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season. A 14-14 domestic record is two games behind the Playoffs zone with six fixtures left in the double-legged round-robin schedule.

Shorter spells with RETAbet Bilbao and Valencia shaped previous experience as a head coach, beyond coaching Badalona’s affiliate CB Prat earlier in his career. The native of Barcelona also worked as an assistant coach with Badalona and Valencia. Connected to Badalona for over two decades through various roles, he was under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Moving forward, the four-time ACB champions will be looking to snap the losing streak and sneak into the top eight spots of the standings to extend a complicated campaign into the postseason of Liga Endesa. Coming up on the schedule, in Round 29 of the Liga Endesa Regular Season, is taking on Real Madrid in WiZink Center on Sunday.
