Paris Basketball dominated the larger part of Game 1 of the EuroCup Finals against JL Bourg en Bresse to grab a 77 – 64 win in the best-of-three series. Bourg hosts Game 2 Friday (12/4).
Newly crowned 2024 EuroCup MVP TJ Shorts led Paris with 15 points and four assists. “It was all about the intensity,” the American guard commented. “Everybody was super focused, super composed but also very physical and setting the tone that we wanted to do what we got to do to get the win.”
Nadir Hifi contributed 13 points (on 3-12 shots) and Sebastian Herrera added 11 points for the hosts that were up 54 – 61 and even went ahead 60 – 33 halfway through the third period. Their team had 6 – 12 3-pointers at the break against Bourg’s 2-11 while forcing their opponents to 10 turnovers.
Bourg continued struggling under the quite intense and energetic defense of Paris. The visiting side managed to cut the margin below 20 with an 0-8 run that made it 71 – 54 down the stretch and will look to build up on that attitude ahead of their do-or-die Game 2 at home.
NBA Draft prospect Zaccharie Risacher (11 points on 5-11 shots) and Jequan Lewis (10 points) scored in double figures for Bourg.
