Berk Ugurlu signed a contract extension with Besiktas Emlakjet. The 28-year-old Turkish point guard is happy to stay with the Istanbul outfit through the 2024-25 season, he shared in a message to the fans via a post on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday.
In the 2023-24 season, he resurfaced in the second-tier club continental competition of Euroleague Basketball with 4.8 points, 2.0 assists, 1.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.2 blocks per contest over 20 appearances in the BKT EuroCup. The team coached by Dusan Alimpijevic was eliminated in the Semifinals by JL Bourg.
At the domestic level, the former player of Tofas, Pinar Karsiyaka, and Fenerbahce averaged 7.5 points, 2.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game over 23 games played in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi. Another exit in the Semifinals, with Fenerbahce Beko delivering a three-game sweep.
Coming off 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest in the BSL over 32 appearances, Mahir Agva moved from Aliaga Petkimspor to Turk Telekom. The 27-year-old center carries the experience of 16 appearances in the EuroCup from his stint with Darussafaka in 2019-20.
Reaching the Eighthfinals of the EuroCup and the Quarterfinals of the domestic league, the team based in Ankara launched the offseason by signing Ismet Akpinar and Anthony Brown, besides reuniting with Turkish play-caller Erdem Can.
Heading to the 2024-25 season, both clubs are expected to combine domestic challenges with the EuroCup once more.
