The market is moving in the BKT EuroCup as well, as Reyer Venice announced Kyle Wiltjer to stay with the Italian side on a multi-year deal.
Starting last season as a free agent after playing one year with the Zhejiang Lions, he was involved by Neven Spahija in Venice following Bruno Caboclo’s case, filling the gap after the Brazilian didn’t join the Italian side. In the BKT EuroCup, he had averaged 12.2 points on 42.7% from three, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He was also named MVP of Round 14.
“For me, it was an honor to sign a contract with Umana Reyer already last year because I had the opportunity to live in a city like Venice together with my family and to be part of a large organization that is like a family. I am thrilled to have renewed the agreement because I am convinced that although our season has been positive, we will continue the work with the hunger to complete some unfinished business”, he first commented.
Before heading to China, he started his career with the Houston Rockets before moving overseas with Olympiacos, Malaga, Turk Telekom, and finally, Lenovo Tenerife, where he won the 2022 Basketball Champions League.
Playing the 2019 FIBA World Cup with the Canadian national team, he wasn’t called up by Jordi Fernandez last season, where Canada eventually won the bronze medal in Manila.
DJ Stewart re-signs with Cedevita Olimpija
Elsewhere in the EuroCup field, Cedevita Olimpija announced a two-year contract extension for 24-year-old guard DJ Stewart on Saturday. Landing in Ljubljana last September, the Mississippi State product averaged 12.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest in his first EuroCup campaign.
On Thursday, Buducnost VOLI announced the signing of Djordije Jovanovic. The 21-year-old Montenegrin guard returns to Europe after leaving Partizan Mozzart Bet midway through the 2022-23 season to join the G League’s Ontario Clippers.
