Chris Jones won’t be able to begin the upcoming season with Valencia in both ACB and BKT EuroCup as expected, having successfully undergone surgery to solve a finger fracture on his right hand.
Valencia announced the news with an official press release. “Due to this setback, [Chris] Jones will miss the entire preseason and the early part of the 2024-25 season. His evolution will mark the moment when he will be able to join practices with the rest of his teammates”, it says.
Chris Jones returned to Valencia where he underwent the surgery carried out by Dr. Vicente Carratalá Baixauli. “The player informed the Club that this injury occurred last week while he was still on vacation in the United States”, the press release continues.
The 2023-24 season was Chris Jones’ second with the orange side, where he put up 12.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game as Valencia’s go-to guy in the backcourt.
Before moving to Spain in 2022, he played in the EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel Aviv and ASVEL in the previous two seasons. He started his overseas career in 2015 with the Mongolian side Tuv Ajmag, before moving to Switzerland with Starwings, to Belgium with Mons-Hainaut, and to Turkey with Bursaspor.
Valencia will compete in the 2024-25 BKT EuroCup, aiming to win the competition after confirming Chris Jones and Semi Ojeleye, while also adding Matt Costello, Jean Montero, Brancou Badio, Nate Sestina, Luka Bozic, and more. The team will be coached by Pedro Martinez.
