Marcus Weathers inked a one-year contract with Trefl Sopot, the team announced on Monday.

Weathers, 27, will debut in the BKT EuroCup following a brilliant run with Mornar-Barsko zlato in the 2023-24 installment of the AdmiralBet ABA League. He averaged 18.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest over 16 appearances. From SMU, Duquesne, and Miami in the NCAA, he went from the Philippines, Taiwan, and the second tier of Turkiye to the Bar outfit.

The twin brother of new MLP Academics Heidelberg player, Michael Weathers Jr., joined Aaron Best, Geoffrey Groselle, Bartosz Jankowski, Trey McGowens, Tarik Phillip, Jakub Schenk, Andy Van Vliet, Mikolaj Witlinski, and Jaroslaw Zyskowski at the Sopot outfit.

Patrick Heckmann lands at Hamburg

After placing Niklas Wimberg on the injury list, Veolia Towers Hamburg picked up Patrick Heckmann. The 32-year-old German forward penned a three-month contract, per the press release.

Heckmann has featured in 65 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games with Brose Bamberg between 2015 and 2018, besides 18 appearances in the 7DAYS EuroCup with ratiopharm Ulm. Except for two years with the Sparrows from 2019 to 2021, Bamberg Baskets has been his home for the rest of his career, including winning Germany’s Beko BBL championship in 2016.

Moving to Hamburg, he reunites with former Bamberg teammate Kenneth Ogbe. Other players for head coach Benka Barloschky are Al-Fayed Alegbe, Jordan Barnett, Jared Grey, Brae Ivey, Keondre Kennedy, Kur Kuath, Jaizec Lottie, Zsombor Maronka, Leif Moeller, Camron Reece, Osaro Rich, and Benedikt Turudic.
