The clash between last season’s semifinalists, Beşiktaş, and this season’s big BKT EuroCup favorites, Hapoel Tel Aviv, was the centerpiece game of Round 3’s first day, but it ended up being one-sided.
Hapoel showed its power in Belgrade’s Aleksandar Nikolić Hall, taking down Dušan Alimpijević’s squad 87-101.
Stefanos Dedas’s side dominated, holding a lead of over 20 points on several occasions. Hapoel had a 62-83 lead entering the final period; Beşiktaş managed to trim it significantly, but too late to make a difference.
Johnathan Motley was unstoppable with 24 points, six rebounds, and four assists for a game-high PIR of 34, while Patrick Beverley recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for a PIR of 32. Markus Foster with 16, Bar Timor with 15, and Tomer Ginat with 11 points followed the dynamic duo.
Derek Needham had 17 points for Beşiktaş, Dustin Sleva added 14, Emanuel Terry 12, while Kyle Allman scored 11 and Kelan Martin 10 points.
Ratiopharm Ulm cruised past BC Wolves on the road 76-94, with Justinian Jessup scoring 27 points, as the German side maintains a perfect 3-0 record and hands the Vilnius team their third straight defeat.
Aris also got a convincing road win, taking down Lietkabelis in Panevėžys 74-92, as Vasileios Toliopoulos led the way to their first victory with 26 points, while the Lithuanian side remained winless.
Türk Telekom followed in Ulm’s footsteps, recording a third straight win by defeating Cedevita Olimpija 78-70 in Ankara.
Kyle Alexander had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while the Slovenian side had four players score 10 points in their first loss.
JL Bourg also went 3-0 after handing Reyer Venice their second defeat with a 66-88 road win, with Kevin Kokila scoring 15 points, while Mfiondu Kabengele’s double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds wasn’t enough for the Italian side.
