Despite huge arrivals in the summer, Hapoel Tel Aviv didn’t start the BKT EuroCup season well, losing to Joventut Badalona in the competition’s opener. However, in a matter of only two games, they bounced back first against BC Wolves and then over Besiktas, finding a positive record.
One reason for summing up this turn of events relies on Johnathan Motley’s impact on the red-and-white side. A cheat code at the EuroCup level, he already dominated with Lokomotiv Kuban two years ago before heading to EuroLeague with Fenerbahce. He left for Hapoel this summer.
In Round 3 of this year’s BKT EuroCup, he was named MVP thanks to his huge performance. He scored 24 points over an almost perfect 8/10 inside the area, and 8/11 at the charity stripe. Moreover, he also grabbed 6 rebounds, dished 4 assists, and blocked 2 shots.
Alongside new teammates like Patrick Beverley, Marcus Foster, Joe Ragland, and Ben Bentil among others, the 29-year-old dominant center has been averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season in the BKT EuroCup for Stefanos Dedas’ team.
