The BKT EuroCup Regular Season Round 6 fixture between Valencia and 7bet-Lietkabelis has been suspended.
Euroleague Basketball shared details on Wednesday, a few hours before the initially scheduled tipoff in La Fonteta.
Per the press release: “The BKT EuroCup Regular Season Round 6 game between Valencia Basket and 7-Bet Lietkabelis Panevezys that was scheduled to be played today, Wednesday, October 30 at 20:45 CET, has been suspended following a recommendation from the Valencia local government due to severe weather conditions affecting the area since yesterday.
Euroleague Basketball will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the game. Further information will be released as warranted in the coming days.
Euroleague Basketball extends its deepest condolences to the victims and their families affected by the severe weather conditions, and stands in solidarity with all those impacted.”
At least 51 people have been killed in flash floods in Valencia, local authorities reported on Wednesday.
Valencia is 5-0
At the top of the 2024-25 edition of the second-tier club continental competition of Euroleague Basketball, Valencia secured five wins in as many games to lead Group B of the Regular Season. On the opposite end, the Panevezys outfit sits at 1-4, one game outside the spots leading to the postseason.
After the 18-game double-legged round-robin schedule, the top two seeds of both groups will advance directly to the Quarterfinals, while the teams ranking between third and sixth will get a second opportunity in the Eighthfinals.
The Eighthfinals and Quarterfinals are set to be contested in single-elimination games in the home of the highest-ranked team. A best-of-three series will then decide the Semifinals and the next EuroCup champion.
