Aris Thessaloniki has found a replacement for David DeJulius, who moved to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, with Sharife Cooper joining from the Turkish club Merkezefendi.

The 23-year-old American player is in his fourth professional season, after being selected in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks as the 48th overall pick.

Cooper played 13 NBA regular-season games for the Hawks as a rookie before moving on to the G League. In 2022, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was waived before the start of the season. He had an on-and-off experience with the Ohio team for two years, often playing for their G League affiliate and not recording a single NBA appearance.

On April 1 of this year, he moved to China to join the Liaoning Flying Leopards, winning the 2024 CBA championship. At the end of September, he joined Merkezefendi in Turkey, where he averaged 15.8 points, six assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in six appearances.
