With five players scoring in double figures, Besiktas beat Bahcesehir 89 – 82 in the all-Turkish derby of Round 11 of the EuroCup regular season. This was the first loss of Bahcesehir after seven straight wins.
Conor Morgan led the charge for Besiktas with 17 points and seven rebounds. Kyle Allman dropped 16 points and Derek Needham posted 13 points plus five assists for the hosts that hit 13 – 28 threes, a big contrast to Bahcesehir’s 3-17.
Tai Odiase paced Bahcesehir with 20 points and eight rebounds. Axel Bouteille had 15 points while Jaleen Smith notched 11 points and 11 assists.
Besiktas led even by 20 points, 49 – 29, early in the second quarter. Bahcesehir erased that margin and approached 72 – 71 in the fourth period but didn’t manage to tie the score. With Besiktas up 80 – 78 and four minutes to play, Morgan and Needham combined for a 5 – 0 run and their team remained beyond a shooting distance down the stretch.
Lietkabelis pulled off quit the upset by beating Hapoel Jerusalem 93 – 87 for their first away win behind the efforts mainly of Mantas Rubstavicius (19 points) and Oleksandr Kovliar (18 points, six assists).
Jared Harper’s 24 points and six assists weren’t enough for Jerusalem.
The Wolves of Vilnius were sizzling against Hapoel Tel Aviv with 19 – 36 threes en route to a 104 – 100 win. Anthony Cowan Jr. scored (28 points) and created (10 points) while pulling off a big defense in crunch time that helped his team secure the victory.
Yam Madar led Tel Aviv with 28 points and seven assists.
