There were reports of Real Madrid being interested in him, but it seems Sam Dekker is in Badalona to stay.
As officially announced, the U.S. swingman has re-signed with Joventut until the end of the season, after quickly becoming a fan favorite.
Dekker initially joined Joventut on a short-term deal in mid-November and later received a one-month extension, but the former NBA forward will now stay for the remainder of the campaign in Badalona.
Since arriving in Spain, Dekker has played six times in the BKT EuroCup for Joventut, averaging 9.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. In the Spanish League, he has posted 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in eight appearances.
“Sam has had a huge impact on the team—through leadership and how he has connected with everything he has encountered. He has brought us joy,” said Joventut head coach Dani Miret.
Joventut is currently in eighth place in Group A with a 5-9 record, but with four games remaining in the regular season, it still has hopes of sneaking into the top six and playing playoff basketball in March.
