There’s a tie in the third spot of Group A in the BKT EuroCup after the 84-83 home win of Buducnost against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
In a dramatic game, Hapoel got an 82-74 lead with one and a half minutes left, only for the host team to close the night on a 10-1 run in the time remaining.
With the game on the line and four seconds on the clock, Pat Beverley fouled Fletcher Magee on a three-pointer attempt. He made three free throws to give Buducnost the 84-83 lead and Markus Foster missed an open three at the end.
Rasheed Sulaimon with 19 points was the top scorer of the winners, while Bruno Caboclo had 16 points for the losing side.
Bahcesehir sealed their spot on top of the regular season standings of the group with three rounds left, after beating Trefl Sopot on the road (81-76).
Jaleen Smith put on a show for the winners with 25 points and nine rebounds. The home side put on a fight until the end, trimming the lead to two (78-76) with 14 seconds left, but didn’t complete the comeback.
In the last game of the group for the night, Joventut beat Gran Canaria on the road thanks to a balanced effort with Sam Dekker and Cassius Robertson scoring 13 points each and being the top scorers of the winners.
Still, GranCa remains second in the standings.
In Group B, Turk Telekom got the job done on the road against the Hamburg Towers getting the 77-65 win.
Anthony Brown with 18 points and Yoan Makoundou with 16 led the winning side, while Jordan Barnett scored 18 for the home team.
Bourg-en-Bresse destroyed Aris on the road winning by 41 points (92-51). Brandon Paul had 19 points and was the top scorer of the game.
Thanks to this result and also with the big road win of UT-Cluj Napoca in Venice, there’s a three-way tie between the 5th and the seventh spot between Venice, Cluj Napoca and Bourg-en-Bresse with the three teams sharing an 8-7 record.
Zavier Sipson scored 25 points and dished seven assists for UT-Cluj Napoca on their 88-77 triumph in Italy.
