A torn cruciate ligament in his right knee sidelined Carlos Alocen indefinitely.
Dreamland Gran Canaria updated his status on Friday.
The team did not share a specific timeline for the rehab under the supervision of the medical staff. However, the 24-year-old point guard will sit out the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Back in 2022, Alocen suffered a similar injury in his left knee, derailing a run with Real Madrid. Heading to the 2024-25 campaign, he parted ways with Los Blancos to join Gran Canaria but the latest setback against Wolves Twinsbet on Wednesday forced him to the sidelines once more.
The Zaragoza native was helped off the court, early in the second quarter of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season Round 16 fixture held in Twinsbet Arena, signaling the severity of the injury. He had four rebounds, three assists, and one block over six minutes in Vilnius.
Following 49 appearances in Europe’s premier club continental competition with Madrid, Alocen went to the EuroCup tallying 5.5 points, 3.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks per contest over 16 games, including two starts. At 10-6 in Group A, Granca is set for postseason action but with two fixtures left in the 18-game schedule is looking for a direct ticket to the Quarterfinals amid a battle with Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv for second place.
In Spain’s Liga Endesa, he contributed 6.9 points and 3.1 assists per game to a 10-7 record so far in the Regular Season.
