Donatas Motiejunas has become PAOK’s new center, signing a one-year contract with the club.
After Cedi Osman and Nick Calathes, Motiejunas will become the third EuroLeague veteran on the Thessaloniki powerhouse’s roster, which has high ambitions in the BKT EuroCup this season.
The Lithuanian center is expected to arrive in Thessaloniki on Thursday or Friday and immediately join Andrea Trinchieri’s team, which will open its EuroCup campaign at home against Manresa on Wednesday.
After beginning his career in Lithuania, Motiejunas moved to the NBA, where he spent six seasons and left a significant mark with the Houston Rockets. He also played in China before moving to Europe and joining Monaco.
Last season, he began the campaign with Monaco before also playing for Crvena zvezda, whom he left shortly before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, PAOK have already recorded their first major victory of the season, defeating Panathinaikos in the semifinals of the Greek Super Cup before losing to Olympiacos in the final.
