You can easily call him as the “ultimate Eurocup veteran”. With the completion of the seventh year he has spent playing in the competition, Chuck Davis finally reached the glorious end of the road, being crowned as Eurocup champion with Galatasaray.
A team which he had greatly helped since his arrival, averaging 8.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, plus making a serious difference on the defensive structure of the team.
So how does the second best scorer in the history of Eurocup feeling after finally lifting the trophy? “It is a great feeling”, Davis said to Eurohoops”. It has been a long time fighting for this, fighting to win a championship like this one. And to finally making it simply feels amazing”
While the American forward didn’t begin the season with Galatasaray, he didn’t spoil the chemistry of the team when he arrived on January. On the contrary he has become an integral part of it rather easily. Who made that happen? “My teammates and the coach did a great job in helping me adapt and bringing me in the team. They made me feel I’ve been here all year. They were already a great team before I got here. So that made my job easier and I give them a little support in the game”.
According to the Alabama-born player, perhaps an award is in order for the fans of the “Cimbom” as well: “They were unbelievable. This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. They were screaming the whole night. The gym was packed with them and they gave us energy. You could easily say they are our most valuable players in our game. That’s how much they have helped us out”.
And will Chuck Davis remain in Galatasaray for the Euroleague challenge of the upcoming season? “I hope so”, he said to Eurohoops.
