AEK BC is expected to announce its withdrawal from Eurocup within the day. Both FIBA and the Greek Basketball Federation seem to have affected the team’s initial decision to join the Eurocup instead of the FIBA Champions League.
The team appears to be disappointed from Euroleague’s stand on the matter and if there is no move from the ECA, AEK will withdraw permanently from the competition.
AEK’s board expects Euroleague support, since it is not certain yet if the threat of elimination from national competitions will be imposed. The two sides are expected to have a crucial meeting within the day.
Meanwhile, the Greek team also expects FIBA reassurance, since the competition’s teams are already drawn.
Partizan has expressed the same worries as AEK, since the Serbian team is currently unable to register new players.
