While AEK in Greece and Partizan in Serbia wouldn’t register new player in their domestic league, if they stayed in Eurocup, the situation proved to be quite different in Israel.
After the hearing held by IBBA today, it was announced that Hapoel Jerusalem will play without any issues both in the Eurocup and in the Israeli league.
Of course, the fact that Hapoel Jerusalem emerged as the second strongest club in Israel only behind Maccabi Tel Aviv – having won the 2015 league title – and signed Amare Stoudemire, were more than factors in the final decision from the part of the federation. Still, the verdict came from the ΙΒΒΑ judge and the justification of his verdict can be quite interesting.
IBBA: At the end of the @JerusalemBasket hearing it was decided the team will be eligible to register for the @EuroCup and @WinnerLeague
