With 32 points (8/14 from behind the arc) Ryan Toolson steered Zenit St. Petersburg to a 84 – 77 victory over Buducnost, in Russia.
The American shooting guard was particularly hot in the first half where he dropped 6/9 three-pointers to help his team take a lead (42 – 35) that gave them an advantage which was retained until the end.
Buducnost appeared competitive enough in the game perhaps too late, losing precious ground before outscoring Zenit 12 – 20 in the final quarter. It was to no avail since they were behind with 15 points (72 – 67) at the end of the third period.
Marcus Williams was the “go to guy” for the Montenegrin team with 23 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.
