Nizhny Novgorod defeated winless MZT Skopje 97 – 82 in FYROM in a rather comfortable manner thus sealing third place in Eurocup Group A with a possibility of making a run for the second spot next week.
Coach Stalberg’s players more or less finished their job by the first half, having taken a lead of 18, 52 – 34, mainly thanks to a dominant first quarter (12 – 26). The hosts outscored their opponents in the third and fourth period, but only by a narrow margin (29-28 & 19 – 17), not enough to change the fate of the game.
DeAndre Kane paced Nizhny with 22 points plus 6 rebounds while newcomer Tomislav Zubcic and Kenneth Boynton dropped 12 points each. Jure Lalic had 23 points and Charlon Kloof 15 along with 9 assists and 6 rebounds for MZT.
