Gran Canaria unleashed – Group D Recap

Group D of the 7DAYS Eurocup continued today with two games as the competition tipped-off yesterday (10/10) with Ratiopharm Ulm’s win over Tofas Bursa, behind Joseph Lewis’ 26 points. Trento and Gran Canaria both got victories on their home court tonight and are now 1-0 in the 2017-2018 Eurocup season.

Trento got an 85-75 win over Lyon-Villeurbanne. The game started off with both teams competing and challenging its other on both sides of the court, but in the end of the first quarter, Trento had a 7-point edge (25-18). Even though ASVEL was down 13-points (64-51) by the end of the third quarter, they tried to come back in the fourth but eventually, could not complete the comeback, falling to Trento.

Key Player: Chane Behanan scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the winners.

Aside from Trento, Gran Canaria also got a 97-87 home court victory against Zenit Petersburg; a tough opponent. Zenit was challenging Gran Canaria in the first three quarters, however, the fourth quarter was a different story, as Casimiro’s team showed character and a winning mentality. After a hard-fought battle, Gran Canaria controlled the tempo of the game and made some critical plays down the strech that led them to victory.

Gran Canaria’s offense was impressive tonight as they managed to score 97 points. Sixers stash Anzejs Pasecniks played 15:26 minutes and scored 8 points to go along with 5 rebounds for the home team.

Key Player (s): Eulis Baez and Pablo Aguilar scored 12 points, while Oriol Pauli added 15.
