With two seconds remaining, Sergey Karasev blocked Ryan Thompson’s attempt to tie the game and Zenit St. Petersburg grabbed its first road victory by defeating Ratiopharm Ulm 95 – 93.
Thompson had been the top player of his team scoring a EuroCup career-high 28 points plus eight rebounds for 28 PIR.
Demonte Harper paced Zenit throughout most of the match, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Marko Simonovic finished with 17 points, as many as Karasev.
An exciting finale was also in the program for the game of Tofas Bursa against ASVEL where the Turkish team prevailed 82 – 81.
The hero there was Raymar Morgan, not only because of his 18 points/10 rebounds double-double, but because he hit the game-winner with five seconds left after a brilliant play and pass by Baris Ermis.
John Roberson finished with 19 points plus five assists for ASVEL.
In the game that concluded the evening, Gran Canaria played excellent offense in the second half to beat Trento 85 – 76.
The hosts’ younger players did the bulk of the job with Marcus Eriksson scoring 23 points (4/9 3s) and Sixers stash Anzejs Pasecniks adding 12 points plus five rebounds in just 12:22.
For Trento, Dominique Sutton had 23 points.
