ASVEL beat Zenit St. Petersburg with 92-89 and improved its EuroCup record to 5-3. At the same time, the Russian team fell to 4-4.
The key: With 2 minutes to go, the hosts grabbed a 5-point lead with Sergey Karasev tapping a pair of free throws (87-82), yet the visiting side’s Justin Harper found the way to place ASVEL in the lead (89-87, 39′). There’s was no coming back for Zenit after that as ASVEL finished the game with a 10-2 run.
The star: Justin Harper saved the day for the French side and finished the game with 18 points.
Not enough: Sergey Karasev put on a show with 27 points, yet his performance couldn’t help the home team reach the victory.
