Despite being just 20 years old, Lithuanian forward/center Martynas Echodas had some rather notable performances in his professional career. But never something this grand in the larger stage that is EuroCup or in a critical “do or die” game.
Echodas scored a EuroCup career-high 22 points in 23 minutes, grabbed 4 rebounds and notched 29 in PIR (also a personal best in EuroCup), as Lietuvos Rytas crushed Fiat Turin 101 – 68 at home to improve its record to 1-3 and stay alive in the competition.
What is more, Rytas also now has the tiebreaker against the Italian team that had won 83 – 77 in Turin.
The match was basically over by the end of the first quarter. With Echodas dropping 10 points in 10 minutes, Rytas won the period 30 – 14 and never looked back afterward.
Sasa Vujacic scored 14 points with 2/3 threes, but the rest of his teammates shot 0/11 from beyond the arc and Turin was unable to keep up with its opponents.
Travis Peterson added 14 points and Travis Peterson 12 plus 7 rebounds for Lietuvos. Derron Washington scored 12 for Turin that is 2-2 in the Group.
