Zenit bounced back and defeated Reggio Emilia 91 – 77 in Saint Petersburg in a life or death game for the Russian team.
The hosts were in trouble at the break as they were losing 35 – 39 despite Evgeny Voronov. The Russian held his team with an amazing performance: 22 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
During the third quarter, Voronov’s teammates joined the cause and Zenit was unstoppable offensively scoring 56 points in the second half. Kyle Kuric (16 points) and Malcolm Griffin (12 points, 7 assists) sealed the deal and forced Game 3.
Julian Wright and Manuchar Markoishvili scored 13 points apiece for the losing side.
Home-court advantage continues being very important as no team has won off from home in the EuroCup playoffs yet.
