Reggie Redding had a majestic all-around performance, Jared Cunnigham provided an extra scoring punch and Bayern Munich defeated Unics Kazan 91 – 81 to win the EuroCup quarterfinal series 2-1 and advance to the semifinals.
It was perhaps the best game in this campaign for Redding who notched a season-high 32 in PIR after finishing with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Cunningham added 21 points for a Bayern Munich squad that controlled most aspects of the game in the fourth quarter to beat its opponents.
Trent Lockett scored 16 points while Stephan Lasme and Melvin Ejim added 12 points apiece for Unics that couldn’t keep up with its hosts down the stretch.
The two teams went toe-to-toe for the majority of the first three periods and the Russian side was up 61 – 63, eight minutes into the second half. But Bayern closed the quarter with a 9 – 0 run that was extended to 11 – 0 early in the fourth. They never looked back afterward and managed to always stay ahead by five or more points.
Bayern Munich will face Darussafaka in the semifinals.
