Unics Kazan has officially announced that they’ve renewed their partnership with Greek coach Dimitris Priftis. The Russian team had a team option which they opted into in order to keep the Greek coach in Kazan.
Just in his first season outside the Greek borders, Priftis, a longtime member of the Greek national team coaching staff and former coach of Aris BC, proved that he can build a contender in the VTB United League.
He led Unics Kazan in the Final Four, where the team lost a close duel against Khimki Moscow Region in the semifinals. Priftis was also a candidate for the bench of Basketball Champions League’s winner AEK, however he decided to stay in Unics Kazan.
