Zvezdan Mitrovic signed a three-year deal with ASVEL and he will lead the team not only in the upcoming 7Days EuroCup season but also in the EuroLeague after the 2019-20 season.
The French club will get a wildcard in the upcoming EuroLeague expansion and ASVEL’s owner Tony Parker decided that the former Monaco coach is the man for the job.
Mitrovic, 48, had coached Monaco since March 2015. He helped Monaco win the French second division in 2015 and finish first in the French League regular season in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Mitrovic, a two-time French League coach of the year, helped Monaco win three consecutive French Leaders Cup titles from 2016 and 2018 and reach the Basketball Champions League final last season.
He is expected to be replaced in Monaco by Saso Filipovski who is leaving Banvit.
